The Tulsa Awards for Theatre Excellence publicly recognize and promote the art of theatre in Tulsa and foster a broad-based, community-wide appreciation for outstanding live performance.


The Tulsa Awards for Theatre Excellence is administered by a volunteer committee of local individuals and is supported by the George Kaiser Family Foundation.


Theatre Tulsa wins 2009 Outstanding Play!

The Inaugural Tulsa Awards for Theatre Excellence were presented on June 21, 2009. The winners are:

  • Outstanding Youth Production
    Clark Theatre - The Sound of Music

  • Outstanding Play, 2nd Runner Up
    American Theatre Company - A Picasso

  • Outstanding Play, 1st Runner Up
    Midwestern Theatre Troupe - One Man's As Good As Another

  • Outstanding Play
    Theatre Tulsa - Up The Down Staircase

  • Distinguished Artist
    Kristen Chenoweth
